Kingswood Youth Football and Cheer

Youth Level (2nd–4th Grade)
Focus: Introduction, fundamentals, and fun
At this stage, players are learning the basics of football in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
  • Skill Development:
    Basic techniques like stance, ball handling, running, catching, and introductory blocking/tackling form
  • Game Understanding:
    Simple rules, positions, and basic offensive/defensive concepts 
  • Practice Structure:
    3-4 days per week. High-energy practices with lots of repetition and instruction 
  • Coaching Style:
    Highly instructional, emphasizing encouragement, confidence, and teamwork 
  • Game Play:
    Simplified playbooks, equal playing time often prioritized 
  • Primary Goal:
    Build interest in the sport and establish a strong fundamentals base


Junior Level (5th–6th Grade)
Focus: Skill development and game awareness
This is a transitional stage where players begin applying fundamentals in more structured gameplay.
  • Skill Development:
    Refinement of blocking, tackling, passing, and position-specific skills 
  • Game Understanding:
    More complex plays, formations, and situational awareness
  • Practice Structure:
    3-4 days per week. More structured practices with drills, small group work, and team concepts
  • Coaching Style:
    Still instructional but focusing accountability and effort expectations 
  • Game Play:
    Expanded playbooks, more defined positions, situational substitutions 
  • Primary Goal:
    Prepare players for higher competition while continuing skill progression

Senior Level (7th–8th Grade)
Focus: Preparation for high school football
This level is more competitive and begins to mirror a high school program.
  • Skill Development:
    Advanced techniques, some position specialization, strength and conditioning emphasis
  • Game Understanding:
    Full playbooks, reading defenses/offenses, game strategy, and adjustments 
  • Practice Structure:
    4-5 days per week, including film (if available) 
  • Coaching Style:
    More demanding—focus on discipline, accountability, and execution 
  • Game Play:
    Competitive play, situational strategy, and performance-based roles 
  • Primary Goal:
    Prepare athletes physically and mentally for the high school level
